10.  Point and Press ® Programming
This method allows you to program the remote control WITHOUT using CODES. Instead, the remote control will actually find the device you are trying to set by looking through it's code library until it finds the correct code for your device. You then lock in the correct code as described below.

The following instructions describe how to program your remote control using the [CH ] and  [CH ] buttons. (these buttons function as "power" during programming). You may also program your remote control using other buttons/functions as described in section . When using this method, there are several points to remember:

  • The order in which you program your devices IS NOT important.
  • While the remote is searching for the correct setup code, other devices that you are NOT currently programming may turn on/off. This is nothing to be concerned about. Simply continue pressing  [CH ] until you find the correct code for the device you are programming. Your other devices will not be affected.
  • It may take several minutes for the remote control to find the proper code. During this time, the remote control will remain lit in a fast rotation pattern:

  • There may be several codes that turn your electronic devices ON / OFF (or other functions). Once you lock in a code, be sure to check all available functions for that device. For example:
    • For TV try the [VOL ], [VOL],[MUTE], TV input (TV/VCR button), etc.
    • For VCR or DVD, try the PLAY(), REWIND(), FFWD(), etc.
    • For Audio, try the [VOL ], [VOL],[MUTE],etc.

  1. If the same button is pressed and held for 30 seconds, your remote control will turn itself off automatically. This extends the battery life should the remote become lodged under or between heavy objects, for example sofa cushions.
  2. If you have a TV that’s operated by remote control, it is recommended that you plug it directly into a wall outlet instead of the cable set-top terminal.
  3. If you have any questions concerning the brand, model or operation of your cable set-top terminal, contact us
  4. If the [MODE] button is not operating, the remote is in its locked mode. To set the remote to its unlocked mode, see Section 10.

DVR Issue- Muted volume

Powering off converter when it has a recording schedule will cause the DVR to mute when it comes back on to record. This is done on purpose by the DVR manufacturer.

Solutions:

  1. You can prevent this next time by leaving the converter POWERED ON the next time you have a scheduled recording. You do not need to turn off the DVR to record (like you would a VCR)
  2. Here is the situation. The converter volume has been automatically muted. However, when a you turn up the volume on the remote, the TV volume goes up, and this doesn't help. You need to turn up the converter volume. So you will need to change the volume function from the TV to the converter
    • How to change the volume control from TV to CONVERTER:
      1. Hold OK and CABLE buttons together until cable button is solid red.
      2. Push VOLUME UP(+) once.
      3. Push CABLE button once. Cable light will blink 3 times

Now that the volume function is assigned to the cable box, you can either hit the mute button to UNmute the box, or push the volume up button.

  3. It is advised that you then reassign the volume function to your TV when done viewing the program, and record any future programs with the converter box turned on.
    • Changing the volume function on the remote from Cable to TV
      1. Hold OK and CABLE buttons together until cable button is solid red.
      2. Push VOLUME UP(+) once.
      3. Push TV button once. Cable light will blink 3 times

Batteries Weak?
Low Battery Indication - when the batteries become low and need to be replaced, the [CBL], [TV], [VCR], [DVD], [AUDIO] buttons will not illuminate normally, or at all, during operation. To rectify, install 2 new "AA" size batteries to restore normal operation to the remote control..
