How to Connect Your VCR and Record with Cable TV Standard VCR Hookup

  • Set the channel that you wish to record on the cable TV box.
  • Set the VCR/TV switch on the VCR position. Tune your VCR to channel 3.
  • Set your TV to channel 3.
  • Push play and record on your VCR.
  • If you are recording unattended, set the cable TV box on the channel you wish to record. Set the timer on your VCR to come on to channel 3 at the time your program begins. Turn your TV set off and leave the cable TV box on.


VCR Hookup with A-B Switch

  • Set the channel that you wish to record on the cable TV box.
  • Set the VCR/TV switch on the VCR to the VCR position. Tune your VCR to channel 3.
  • Turn A-B switch to the B position. You should be able to see the channel you wish to record on your TV screen.
  • Push play and record on your VCR.
  • If you wish to watch a basic channel other than what you’re recording, turn A-B switch to the A position.
  • Turn your television channel selector to the basic channel you wish to watch, providing your TV is capable of receiving that channel. If your TV is cable eady,
    all basic channels except MTV can be viewed.
  • If you are recording unattended, set the cable TV box to the channel you wish to record. Set the timer on your VCR to come on to Channel 3 at the time your program begins. Turn your TV set off and leave the cable TV box activated. The A-B switch can be in either position.



VCR Hookup With Two Cable TV Boxes

  • Set the channel you wish to record on the cable TV box that is connected to your VCR.
  • Your VCR channel selector remains on channel 3. Set the VCR/TV switch on your VCR to VCR position.
  • Turn the A-B switch to the B position. You should be able to see the channel you wish to record.
  • Push play and record on your VCR.
  • If you wish to watch a channel other than what you are recording, turn the A-B switch to the A position.
  • Select the channel you wish to watch on the cable TV box assigned to your TV set. Your TV channel selector remains on channel 3.
  • If you are recording unattended, set the cable TV box connected to your VCR on the channel you wish to record. Set the time on your VCR to come on to channel 3 at the time your program begins. The A-B switch can be in either position. Your TV set should be turned off.
